Don't suppose any of you listen to TalkSport on the AM dial on your radios (thats the funny button on the side that makes the radio sound like its broken)

Well I listen every Saturday morning before football to Andy Townsend and Mike Parry, they are funny men.. They do a thing called Wickes weekend breakfast show and they are currently running a competition to win £1000 to improve facilities for your club. So of course I entered it and lo & behold i got chosen as the winner last Saturday! I won a 'Wickes football kit' for my team and got entered into the draw for the £1000 at the end of the comp. (not sure when this is) I'll keep you posted.

By the way, I have no idea what EXACTLY this football kit i have won is yet but i will receive it within 28 days apparently.

Fingers crossed for the grand but i'm afraid we will ACTUALLY have to spend soem of it on the club and take a photo to prove it, but the spare change will definatley help our end of season drinks tab out a bit!!

this is the begging email i sent them...

"Hi Mike & Andy

We have been pushing for promotion for a few years now and it finally
looks possible for the first time as we are second in our division.
Getting promoted means we get to play teams from all over London rather
than local teams and we need the facilities to impress traveling teams.
Our pitches are pretty terrible and the groundstaff need pitchforks at
least (to try and clear some waterlogging that frequently occurs)

The main reason we need the money is because when players travel to play at our ground, they usually go home caked in mud as our showers have only two temperature settings: '3RD DEGREE BURNS' or 'POLAR ICE CAP WINTER' this is going to be a major problem next year.

PLEASE HELP US LADS!!!

Love TALKSPORT and WICKES!!!

Richard Lundie

Old Thorntonians FC"

Very Happy

This new kit we're getting, could it go to the 2nd team at all?? Their kit is just whats left over from 1st and 3rd team kits of years gone by, and seeing as both 1st and 3rd teams have had at least 2 new kits each in the last 2/3 years, think it's about time the 2nd team finally had an upgrade to their ageing late 90's kit.

i'll have to see what it is, I fear it might only be a 'kit' of essentials and if it was a football strip it might be the wrong colour, i'm in the dark at the moment but i'll let you know when i do.

(The first team need a new home strip i'm afraid as well so my preference would obviously be towards supplying them first as i play for them)

Suggest u hold a fundraiser for the new 2nd XI kit as we did for the first team kit.
